Check for any breaks or warps before securing your load. Lubricating all moving parts periodically with rust inhibiting oil is recommended.

Inspection of the ratchet should be done prior to each use. Inspect the gear and pawl should be inspected for stripping and/or breakage. Regular cleaning and lubrication are required to ensure the proper function of the ratchet.
