Multiprens Utility Sliding Winch offers a system for securing cargo on utility trailers. With a working load limit of 2,500 kgs / 5,500 lbs, Multiprens Utility Sliding Winch is constructed of 8 mm heat-treated steel with a black, powder coated finish, and it has a “U” channel for mounting on track. Multiprens Utility Sliding Winches are stamped with the date of manufacture, country of origin and the working load limit.
Multiprens Utility Sliding Winch can be mounted and moved to the perfect position to secure your cargo. Mount and position the winch along the Sliding Winch Track so that the latch/pawl drops into the gear/sprocket teeth by its own weight. We recommend using any of our durable straps and winch bars in conjunction with our winches. Webbing can be 2″, 3″ or 4″.
Our Winches are coated with a rust inhibiting paint. Lubricating all moving parts periodically with rust inhibiting oil is recommended. All Multiprens winches are manufactured to meet or exceed all standards of the US Department of Transportation (DOT), California Highway Patrol (CHP), Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), Web Sling and Tie Down Association (WSTDA) and Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA). Inspect before each use for damage and proper working condition. Damaged or inoperable winches should be removed from service.

All Multiprens USA winches have been manufactured to ensure proper pawl-to-gear and sprocket engagement through the forces of gravity when positioned, installed, and used properly. All winches must be inspected for damage and are in proper working condition before each use. Winches should be clean and lubricated to ensure the winch pawl will drop freely between the ratchet teeth and by gravity. Winches should be installed so the user can readily see the pawl to ensure proper engagement. Winches should never be installed in a position where the user must hold the pawl to engage the gear and sprocket tooth. All winches except portable and sliding winch designs must be welded to the trailer fame. Minimum welding requirements are 1/4–inch fillet weld, 4 inches long on both sides of the winch frame and 1/8-inch penetration.
CAUTION: Welding may emit toxic fumes. Welding should be done by trained personnel with adequate ventilation and proper safety equipment.
For winches that are installed in a track, the track must be attached to the structural member of the vehicle. The structure of the vehicle should have equal or greater strength than the winch.
When using a winch, two to three wraps of webbing must be on the mandrel when tensioned (4-6 layers of webbing). Less than two wraps could result in strap slippage and more than four will place unnecessary strain on the winch. Excessive wraps of webbing could reduce the Working Load Limit (WLL) and could interfere with proper operation.
When tightening or loosening winches, always maintain a firm grip on the winch tightening bar. Never release a winch bar from its leveraged position without checking the pawl to ensure that it is fully engaged between the gear and sprocket teeth. Releasing a winch bar without the pawl being properly engaged can cause serious injury to the user or bystanders. Multiprens recommends the use of a slip resistant handle winch bar specifically designed to tighten or loosen winches. Only winch bars designed to be used with the winches shall be used to tension and release the tie-down. The tip of the winch bar shall be engaged in both holes in the end cap to prevent slipping or damaging the winch.
Winches should never be used as pulling or lifting devices.
“Cheater Bars” or “Extenders” should never be used with winch bars.
Winches should never be loaded more than the working load limit.
All binders should be checked during transit and retention as required by Department of Transportation Regulations, 49 CFR Part 39, Section 392.9(b)(2) &(b)(3).
No repairs of winches, winch components or winch track shall be permitted.
Portable winches with or without set screws shall be removed from vehicle frame when not be used.
Portable winches with set screws are designed to position the winch while the tie-down is being tightened, they should be snug and not over tightening. This could cause the bracket to bend, weakening the winch and causing failure.
All Multiprens winches are manufactured to meet or exceed all standards of the US Department of Transportation (DOT), California Highway Patrol (CHP), Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), Web Sling and Tie Down Association (WSTDA), Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) and California Highway Patrol (CHP).
